- 6 medium apples (approximately 6 cups), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (for topping)
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, pulse together oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
- Spread the apple mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–50 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. It can be adapted for gluten-free and dairy-free diets.
