- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed to 110°F (43°C)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup vanilla custard
- 1 cup chocolate glaze
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, letting it activate for about 5 minutes.
- Mix together flour, sugar, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture and combine.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until well integrated.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then place in a greased bowl.
- Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into donut shapes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C) and fry donuts until golden brown on both sides.
- Cool the donuts briefly, then fill with custard and drizzle with chocolate glaze.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For freezing, individually wrap and place in a zip-top bag for up to 2 months.
